Senator Panfilo Lacson is eager to see a much better Philippine National Police (PNP) in 2018.
“Less bloody, more transparent drug campaign by the PNP this year can even be better with more vigor and enthusiasm. And yes, much improved, more dedicated intelligence work,” Lacson tweeted in response to the statement of PNP spokesperson Dionardo Carlos that the drug campaign this year would be “less bloody.”
Lacson, who is a former chief of PNP, stressed that the police force should improve its intelligence work to be able to achieve their goal.
The PNP is back in the government’s drug war to aid the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency upon the order of President Duterte.
Duterte stripped the police of powers to implement the drug war amid allegations of extrajudicial killings including unexplained deaths of minors.
